Chiller Head Weight Calculator
Estimate solid steel weight from measured dimensions before planning a lift.
Measurement guide
Select the shape, then enter measured dimensions and material density.

Formulas
Rectangular weight = length × width × thickness × density.
Round weight = π × (diameter ÷ 2)² × thickness × density.
Default density
Carbon steel is set to 0.283 lb/in³. That is approximately 40.8 lb per square foot for each inch of thickness.
Limitations
This calculator estimates ideal solid-steel geometry. Actual chiller heads and covers may include domes, nozzles, flanges, pass dividers, studs, gasket surfaces, corrosion, retained water, insulation, brackets, and other attached parts.
Lift-planning warning
Do not treat this estimate as a verified rigging weight. Confirm the actual assembly weight, lifting points, rigging method, equipment capacity, and site conditions before lifting.
