Formula

Tons = GPM × (Leaving temperature − Entering temperature) ÷ 24

Assumption

The simplified factor of 24 assumes water. Glycol or another heat-transfer fluid requires correction for the fluid’s actual properties and concentration.

Limitations

Accuracy depends on the quality of the entered flow and temperature measurements. The result estimates condenser-side heat rejection; it does not by itself establish equipment condition or root cause.
